Back to School and DRUNK AGAIN: The Dangerous Spike in Prescription Drug and Alcohol Abuse on College Campus

Well, for millions of college students it’s Back to School time, and they’re DRUNK AGAIN, with an estimated 49% of full-time college students (almost 4 million) admitting to not just drinking alcohol, but actually binge drinking, and “drinking to get drunk”, and some even intending to blackout. Approximately 1.8 million of those students met the medical criteria for substance abuse and dependence.

While this is frightening in and of itself, the more alarming problem is actually the prevalence and ease of acquiring prescription drugs, being used to either get high and/or self-medicate, and the dangerous (sometimes fatal) interactions that have continued to rise sharply amongst our nation’s “best and brightest.” The most common drugs being abused: Adderral, Xanax, Ambien, OxyContin, Vicodin, and Prozac.

Studies and interviews w students have an ambivalent attitude towards the risks, with the perceived thought that they’re taking “medicine” instead of real drugs, and that the positive possibilities (increased social skills, academic performance, mood enhancement, weight loss) outweigh the negative consequences (vomiting, hangovers, headaches, missing classes, poisoning, blackouts, dizziness, and even death)… the current literature, education and warnings being provided are being completely dismissed, and one brother-sister team has set out to do something about it!

Sonja Landis (Author and Motivational Speaker, www.MeetSonja.com) and her brother Nick Pobutsky (College Spring Break Event and Travel Planner, www.OvationTourGroup.com) decided to combine their skills and address the problem with a NEW Student Guide (“How To Not Pee on Yourself: A Guide to Drug-Alcohol Interactions”) written not for the approval of parents, faculty, and staff, but directly FOR the students, in a conversational, trendy way they can relate to.

“We wrote this Resource Guide in a way that will actually impact the students, instead of in the lecture-like way of spouting out more facts and warnings. We use real examples, real stories of humiliation and embarrassment, and slang in the real way these students talk. Not everyone is going to approve of what we say and how we say it, but if it’s going to REALLY sink in and change some people’s lives, than our job is done… We’re not going to tell them to stop drinking or partying, because it’s absolutely unrealistic, and will fall to deaf ears… We ARE going to address things that WILL matter to them, like peeing on oneself and being eternally ridiculed by peers for it, because at this point in their lives, THAT’S what matters.” says Sonja.

“We’re looking for not only Contributors and other Professionals to add to the Resource Guide for a 2nd edition, but also a media avenue to talk candidly and realistically about this growing epidemic on campuses everywhere.
Let’s save lives together.”

Sonja Landis travels around the country, educating and empowering college students with numerous life, business, personal, career, and communication skills for success. www.MeetSonja.com for booking events.

A How-To Guide On Seducing And Getting A Girl

You ask yourself why it is the way it is and how those men do it.

You seem quite sure that you are superior in terms of looks and wealth, but why do they get all the hot girls? You want to know how to attract girls? These tips should help you get the girls you want.

Be real with her. If you are genuinely interested about a girl, you will not lie to her. Do not think that making yourself look better, sound better than you normally are is the way to her heart. It is not. And chances are that she would think cheated on when she finds out the real you.

Listen to her. Now, a girl is a natural talker. Never even try to talk as much as she does. It’s either she gets annoyed of you because you’re talking too much or she gets annoyed of herself because you’re actually the one who’s speaking more. You wouldn’t want a girl annoyed; you want her seduced, you want her attracted. Listen to her because a girl finds it sweet and encouraging that she is being paid attention to.

Respect her. Do not talk about things that are too personal. Let her bring those things up. Show her that you are not prying, and that you are actually willing to wait for her to be ready. Never let your eyes drift from her to other girls when you are together. Do not talk about your exes even if she insists. You would do well to remember that. Don’t call her names you wouldn’t want to be called.

Now that you know how to attract a girl, the next tips would tell you how to seduce them.

It’s all about image. Before you even think of seducing a girl, you must first have a presentable image. Be good to her friends. Do not be a wallflower. Socialize and make her see that you are a good catch. This way, you would have her mind even when you’re not together. If you would go for the mysterious type of guy, be warned. Unless you have a personality that could drive girls crazy (which you don’t, in which case you wouldn’t even be here), you are most likely just weird to their eyes.

Do the opposite. If a girl gets attention from other guys, don’t. If you are looking for an ultimate tip on how to seduce girls, this is it. Girl stories actually have their own ways of getting around, and when she finds out that you are not salivating over her as other guys do, you are most likely to get her attention and you would have the chance to know more about her. If, however, other guys ignore her, show her attention and you are on your way.

General Reloading

I’ve started reloading my 9MM and 38 Special ammo–using purchased lead bullets and recovered brass cuts the sot of shooting in half. Casting bullets make it about as cheap as shooting 22s.

Anyway, I started with the Lee Breech handloader. It’s the small, handheld press with pretty much everything available including a capper for the primers. It’s a tad slow, but it works pretty well and I see it as an excellent way to start–see if you find loading enjoyable enough to do it. There are many folks who will tell you that they just didn’t have the patience or the amount they shoot didn’t give them much of a savings.

Having now done some for a bit, I would suggest this: look at how much your really shoot and how much fiddling with the ammo would be fun. If you shoot less than 500 rounds a month or find taking your guns aaprt tedious, you’ll not be likely to reap the rewards of reloading.
